Eastern Virginia Medical School

When a legend like Eastern Virginia Medical School turns 50, it’s time to celebrate in a big way. And at Otto, we really do mean BIG—as in three-stories-tall signage, a huge outdoor sculpture, eye-catching billboards, and TV and radio spots. Our goal was to mirror the scope of EVMS’s impressive impact on our community, while also connecting the groundbreaking work of the past with the incredible innovations of the future.

We take care of the little things too. Building EVMS pride was also a critical component of our work, and our 50th anniversary branding efforts also extended to items like lapel pins and commemorative coins, as well as view-masters featuring historic photos from the EVMS archives. It was a fun way to generate even more buzz amongst students, faculty, alums and donors.

As one of the region’s most renowned institutions, we recognize and appreciate the profound effect Eastern Virginia Medical School has on our community. Through our experience with EVMS, we helped launch the brand, “Community Focus. World Impact.” We developed award-winning creative that brings the school’s mission to life. Our work has increased awareness and knowledge of EVMS and served as an impactful backdrop to multiple development efforts. We also ventured into cutting-edge media buying through geofencing while launching an innovative residency marketing program.

Our most recent work, “What Unites Us” further positions EVMS as leaders in healing. Otto Design + Marketing has the good fortune of partnering with the area’s leading brands including Huntington Ingalls Industries, the world’s largest Navy shipbuilder, Langley Federal Credit Union, one of the 100 largest credit unions in the country, Kaufman & Canoles, Hampton Roads’ leading business law firm and the Virginia Aquarium, the region’s most popular tourist attraction.
